Please commit to passing HR 4250, aka the PRESS AC, T, with practicality. While it passed the House this spring, we need this bill to hit the president's desk and be signed into law before January 20th, when Trump comes into office. It will guarantee protections for reporters and journalists as we enter a second Trump presidency, one where he is more equipped to suppress criticisms raised against him. It will ensure that journalists trying to hold truth to power can keep the government from snooping in and interfering with their jobs. This will protect journalists from retaliation from the US government and strengthen the First Amendment. We can't afford to take Trump seriously, so when he says he wants to punish the journalist who makes him look bad, we have to believe him. He is set to dismantle so many of our institutions that are responsible for checks and balances. We have to ensure that if nothing else, for the next 4 years journalists can worry a little bit less.
