The Separation of Church and State has a Constitutional basis and practical importance.
But I think there is almost equal practical importance, though no specific Constitutional basis (yet), in a Separation of State and Commerce. There should be many fewer mechanisms for getting filthy rich off of manipulating our politics and government than there are now. And guess what? Some of those mechanisms also benefit from quid-pro-quo between government/politics and certain Churches.
For the benefit of society, I believe our Government, and in fact governments worldwide, should come after corruption, manipulation, and swindling, especially by the prosperous and powerful, with Both Barrels Blazing.
