--- **Title: The Restriction Upon Malfeasant Presidency (TRUMP) Act** **Preamble:** To ensure the integrity and trustworthiness of the office of the President of the United States, this bill aims to prevent individuals with felony convictions, involvement in fraud, insurrection, or improper retention of classified documents from being eligible to run for or hold the office of the President. **Section 1: Title** This Act may be cited as the "The Restriction Upon Malfeasant Presidency (TRUMP) Act." **Section 2: Definitions** For the purposes of this Act: - **Felony**: A crime classified as a felony under federal law or the laws of the state in which the crime was committed. - **Fraud**: The wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain. - **Insurrection**: A violent uprising against an authority or government. - **Classified Documents**: Documents that have been designated by a government as requiring a specific degree of protection against unauthorized disclosure for reasons of national security. - **Candidate**: An individual who files to run for the office of President of the United States or is otherwise nominated for that office. - **Office of the President**: The executive position of President of the United States as defined by the U.S. Constitution. **Section 3: Restriction on Eligibility** (a) **Prohibition**: No person who has been convicted of a felony, fraud, involvement in insurrection, or improper retention of classified documents shall be eligible to run for, be elected to, or hold the office of President of the United States. (b) **Retroactivity**: This prohibition shall apply to all individuals with such convictions or proven involvement regardless of whether the conviction or involvement occurred before or after the enactment of this Act. **Section 4: Implementation** (a) The Federal Election Commission (FEC) shall: - (i) Establish and maintain a database of individuals who have been convicted of felonies, fraud, involvement in insurrection, or improper retention of classified documents. - (ii) Verify the eligibility of candidates for the office of President. (b) The FEC shall promulgate regulations to implement and enforce the provisions of this Act, including procedures for candidates to verify their eligibility. **Section 5: Penalties** (a) Any individual who knowingly provides false information regarding their status in relation to their candidacy for President under the prohibitions listed in Section 3 shall be subject to a fine not exceeding $50,000 and/or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years. **Section 6: Severability** If any provision of this Act, or the application thereof to any person or circumstance, is held invalid, the remainder of the Act, and the application of such provisions to other persons or circumstances, shall not be affected thereby. **Section 7: Effective Date** This Act shall take effect immediately upon enactment.
