The United States should end unconditioned military aid to the Israeli government led by Prime Minister Netanyahu, which has carried out an unprecedented assault on the Palestinian people in violation of international law. Israel has severely restricted humanitarian aid to Gaza, resulting in a catastrophic crisis where hundreds of thousands of children face malnutrition and starvation. This is a clear breach of the U.S. Foreign Assistance Act prohibiting security assistance to any country that obstructs delivery of U.S. humanitarian aid. Continuing the provision of $8.9 billion in offensive military aid would make the U.S. complicit in Netanyahu's destructive war. Additionally, the legislative ban on funding for UNRWA, the UN agency providing essential humanitarian relief and basic services to millions of Palestinians, should be removed. UNRWA plays a vital role, and denying aid based on unsubstantiated allegations against a few employees is unjustified. The American people overwhelmingly oppose sending more weapons to Israel while it attacks Gaza. It is imperative that the U.S. Senate allows amendments to stop arming Netanyahu's extremist government and restore UNRWA funding, reflecting the will of the majority. Continuing unconditional military support lacks moral and legal justification.
