Demand immediate congressional hearings on the $13 billion reportedly collected after the Trump administration took over Venezuela’s oil exports following President Nicolás Maduro’s kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro, and provide a complete, itemized public accounting of where every dollar has gone. Require the Administration to explain—under oath—why, six months later and after two devastating earthquakes, the money is not being used for humanitarian relief, earthquake recovery, and reconstruction efforts in Venezuela, including rebuilding essential infrastructure like hospitals, schools, housing, power, and water systems. Demand that Congress use its oversight authority to: - subpoena all contracts, transfers, and operational documents related to the oil-export takeover, - publish an audit trail showing recipients, dates, and amounts, - hold officials accountable for delays, missing funds, or diversion of resources, - condition any future funding or authorizations on measurable reconstruction outcomes and independent monitoring. If the Administration cannot produce a verified accounting, Congress should initiate sanctions and enforcement actions, prosecute any responsible parties for mismanagement or misuse of funds, and direct replacement funding through transparent, audited channels tied directly to rebuild and recovery in the wake of the earthquakes.
