I’m a constituent from Chicago and longtime supporter of the Democratic Party, but the gradual abandonment of Israel during their existential war against Hamas is appalling. Every day I read about more blood libels being repeated by President Biden or his administration. As universities across the country devolve into jihad-inspired protests and violence, Jews find themselves isolated by the world in a way reminiscent of the 1930’s and 1940’s. America must support our democratic allies most of all; otherwise, why would any country bother allying with us long term? The disgusting rhetoric espoused by Mr Blinken further causes our allies such as Taiwan and Ukraine to wonder whether the U.S. will continue supporting them. While Mr Netanyahu is indeed a bit borderline-fascist, the actions of the war cabinet are not his alone. This war has become an existential crisis for democracy itself as pro-Hamas riots call for the dismantling of America and most of our democratic allies. I urge you to unconditionally support Israel, Ukraine, Taiwan, and our allies from Islamist terror and authoritarian regimes like Russia and China.
