I’m deeply concerned about the proposed cuts to the VA that were reported today across many news outlets. Broadly cutting 80,000 VA jobs would undoubtedly harm the veterans who rely on the VA for timely, thorough, and excellent care. Michael Missal, who served as the VA Inspector General for the past nine years, said: “What’s going to happen is VA’s not going to perform as well for veterans, and veterans are going to get harmed” (Associated Press, 3/5/25). Cuts at this scale would also pose a roadblock to recruitment and retention of highly skilled service providers going forward, eroding trust in the dependability of our country’s great federal service sector. Stand up for our country’s heroes: our veterans and our dedicated civil servants. Say NO to these deep and indiscriminate cuts to the VA.
