An Open Letter

To: Rep. Moolenaar, Sen. Outman, Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters, Rep. Posthumus, Gov. Whitmer, Pres. Trump

From: A constituent in Rockford, MI

August 27

It Will ALWAYS Be Lake Ontario I am a voting constituent writing to express my disgust over the executive order directing federal agencies to rename Lake Ontario to "Lake America." At a time when American families are bracing for economic fallout and rising prices from escalating trade wars, our executive branch is squandering time, taxpayer dollars, and federal administrative resources on symbolic, performative vanity projects. Relabeling shared international bodies of water does nothing to lower costs for consumers, protect American manufacturing, or resolve trade disputes with critical allies. Updating government databases, federal cartography, and official publications to appease personal whims is an absurd, wasteful distraction from serious governing. Congress must not remain passive while public funds are burned on trivial political theater. I urge you to exercise legislative oversight, block federal funding for these frivolous geographical renames, and demand that the administration focus taxpayer dollars on meaningful economic solutions rather than costly, childish distractions.
