Defend democracy, reject authoritarian rhetoric from leaders

To: Sen. Britt, Rep. Figures, Sen. Tuberville

The president's comments on social media referring to himself as a "king" are highly concerning and unacceptable in a democratic society. Such language undermines the principles of checks and balances enshrined in the Constitution and promotes an autocratic mentality antithetical to American values. No political leader should claim monarchical powers or put themselves above the rule of law. I urge you to denounce these alarming statements and reaffirm our nation's commitment to democratic governance and separation of powers. The American people deserve leaders who respect our founding ideals, not those who seek to amass power through authoritarian rhetoric. It is crucial to defend our democratic institutions from any efforts to concentrate power in the hands of one individual.
