Oppose Rep Ogles Resolution to amend 22nd amendment

To: Rep. Clyde, Sen. Ossoff, Sen. Warnock

From: A verified voter in Hoschton, GA

January 24, 2025

I am writing to strongly urge you to vigorously oppose the house resolution set forth by Representative Andy Ogles which would amend the 22nd amendment to allow a president to serve three terms. Rep Ogles has explicitly stated that his intention with this amendment is to extend the time that President Trump is able to be in office.Passing amendments to prolong the reign of a specific politician is a wildly dangerous precedent to set. If this is passed, what is to stop us from then giving him a fourth term, or a fifth, or from abolishing term limits all together? This is a dangerous attempt to subvert the constitution, and one that must be swiftly shut down. There is a reason term limits are outlined in the constitution. This is a clear attempt to begin chipping away at constitutional protections, and it would be folly to not recognize it as such.
