Protect American jobs, protect free speech- NO to IODA

To: Rep. Randall, Pres. Trump, Sen. Murray, Sen. Cantwell

From: A constituent in Tacoma, WA

Stop IODA! Porn is viewed by many as obscene, but it is protected under the first amendment. Not only that, it’s a multi-billion dollar industry in the US, an industry with millions of American workers. If porn is banned in the US, millions would be out of jobs, millions who support their families via their livelihood. An entire industry will be erased, meaning less money coming into the US, and an entire industry moving overseas. Don’t we want to keep American jobs on enticed soil? Millions of people have been lifted from poverty by their work in the porn industry, millions providing entertainment and connection. What will happen to these people? Jobs are already scarce in the US. Porn is not evil. We don’t ban cars on the road because they are harmful to children playing outside. The burden of parenting should be on PARENTS, not the rest of the world looking for fun and satisfaction. We should not eliminate an entire, profitable business sector from the US, harming many in order to ease the minds of the few. Porn is not evil. It is creativity, self expression, and connection. It has been protected in the United States numerous times, by the Suprene Court. If we ban porn, what’s next? Poetry? Any media that makes a small number of people uncomfortable? Bannning porn is a slippery slope to banning many other wonderful things Americans enjoy, such as free speech! Do not support IODA
