Puerto Rico needs immediate support to develop and secure fresh potable water sources, improve water system reliability, and fund long-term drought resilience. I also urge you to support Puerto Rico’s transition to a cleaner power grid built around wind and solar, alongside the infrastructure needed for stability and resilience. Rooftop solar should be heavily supported—especially through streamlined permitting, incentives that reach households and small businesses, and investments in grid interconnection and storage. Please prioritize federal funding and technical assistance for: - Emergency measures and rapid repairs to restore dependable drinking water service. - New and upgraded potable water sources and treatment capacity, including drought-resistant supplies. - Grid modernization and clean-energy deployment, with major support for wind and solar. - Strong, accessible incentives and policy support for rooftop solar across Puerto Rico. Please provide an update on what steps your office and relevant federal agencies are taking now to address the water crisis and to support Puerto Rico’s renewable energy transition.
