Freeze Weapons to Israel, Force Ceasefire After Gaza School Prayer Massacre

To: Sen. Casey, Sen. Fetterman, Rep. Fitzpatrick, Pres. Biden

From: A constituent in Feasterville Trevose, PA

August 10

I write to you in profound distress regarding the ongoing violence and human rights violations occurring in Gaza. It is with a heavy heart that I must address the recent massacre of Palestinian refugees, who were targeted during morning prayers at a school. This horrific act, admitted by the Israeli government, is nothing less than an act of genocidal state terrorism. The deliberate killing of over 100 Muslims in the midst of their prayer is not only a direct assault on the Palestinian people but a deeply offensive attack on Islam itself. The timing of this massacre, coinciding with the approval of $3.5 billion in U.S. taxpayer funds for military aid to Israel, only heightens the responsibility of the U.S. government in these atrocities. The continuous and unconditional support that the United States provides to Israel has emboldened the Israeli government to carry out these acts of violence with impunity. The complicity of the United States in these events is undeniable. As the leader of our nation, you have a moral obligation to respond decisively to this tragedy. If you truly value human life, I urge you to take immediate action by halting the flow of offensive weapons to Israel. Furthermore, it is imperative that you use all available diplomatic channels to compel Prime Minister Netanyahu to agree to a ceasefire, an effort he has repeatedly undermined. The situation in Gaza has reached a critical point, with over 40,000 people—predominantly women and children—slaughtered by Israeli forces. The systematic destruction of civilian infrastructure, coupled with the ongoing campaign of ethnic cleansing, mass starvation, and genocide, demands an unequivocal response from the United States. It is time to end the practice of allowing Israel to investigate itself for these atrocities. The U.S. must cease all military aid that contributes to this cycle of violence. The ongoing genocide enabled by U.S. support must be brought to an end immediately. I call on you, President Biden, and the members of Congress, to take a stand for human rights and the sanctity of life. History will judge us by our actions in this moment. I implore you to act now to stop the bloodshed and restore dignity and justice to the people of Gaza.
