I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the recent decision to appoint a 74-year-old man with esophageal cancer as the top Democrat on the Oversight Committee instead of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. It is disheartening to see such a qualified, young, and intelligent woman overlooked for this critical role.
Have we learned nothing from recent elections? The Democratic Party’s inability to embrace fresh perspectives and diverse leadership continues to alienate voters, especially younger generations who are desperate for representation that reflects their values and vision for the future.
As a citizen and taxpayer, I did not expect such blatant disregard for gender equity and talent within the party. This decision reeks of misogyny and sends a discouraging message to women leaders everywhere.
Do better. Our country deserves leadership that is bold, inclusive, and forward-thinking—not one that clings to outdated norms and priorities.
