As we mourn the passing of President Jimmy Carter, I urge Congress to honor his legacy by addressing the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. President Carter was a staunch advocate for human rights and an apartheid-free Palestine, a vision that demands our attention now more than ever.
The situation in Gaza is dire. Displaced Palestinians face freezing winter conditions in uninhabitable tents, with limited access to food, water, and medical aid. We must act urgently to de-escalate the violence, deliver critical humanitarian aid, and push for a ceasefire to prevent further suffering.
In memory of President Carter’s commitment to justice, I also urge Congress to reassess our alliance with Israel. Continued support for policies that perpetuate apartheid and occupation contradicts our nation’s values. Let us honor his legacy by leading with courage and working toward a future of peace and equality for all.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
