A facility holding migrants, who are among the world's most vulnerable populations, was struck, resulting in significant civilian casualties and injuries. Such an action, if confirmed, stands in direct contradiction to the values of human rights, justice, and the protection of innocent life that our state and nation claim to uphold. As my elected representative in [Nashville / Washington D.C.], I call on you to: 1. Publicly condemn this attack and the loss of civilian life. 2. Demand a full and transparent investigation by the Department of Defense to determine the chain of command, the intelligence used to authorize the strike, and how such a tragic failure of safeguards occurred. 3. Support efforts in Congress to ensure robust oversight of U.S. military engagements abroad, with an emphasis on preventing civilian casualties and adhering to international humanitarian law. The people of Tennessee, through their federal taxes, fund our nation's military. We have a right and a responsibility to demand that this power is used judiciously and in a manner that reflects our core American principles.
