FDA cuts risk lives

To: Sen. Durbin, Rep. Schneider, Sen. Duckworth

From: A constituent in Libertyville, IL

March 28

The FDA is understaffed and struggling to meet review deadlines for medical devices, tobacco products, and other crucial safety evaluations due to recent layoffs. This jeopardizes public health as potentially unsafe products could reach the market without proper vetting. While financial concerns may motivate staff reductions, people's wellbeing should be the top priority. Adequate FDA funding and staffing are imperative to ensure thorough review processes that protect consumers from dangerous products. I urge you to advocate for reversing these cuts and providing the FDA with sufficient resources to fulfill its critical public health mission safely and effectively.
