Congress Must Act on Hegseth’s “No Quarter” War Crime Statement

To: Lt. Gov. Patrick, Gov. Abbott, Rep. Dean, Sen. Hughes, Rep. Moran, Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Pres. Trump

March 14

We have already seen what incompetence does to the economy and to human rights. Now the country is seeing what that same incompetence looks like in war. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s declaration of “no quarter, no mercy” invokes language that international law treats as a war crime because it signals the refusal to accept surrender and the killing of prisoners. Congress has a constitutional duty to oversee the executive branch and uphold the laws of war. This conduct damages U.S. credibility, endangers service members, and violates the standards the United States claims to defend. Investigate this immediately and remove Hegseth from his position.
