Concern Regarding Presidential Fitness and Constitutional Responsibilities

To: Sen. Duckworth, Sen. Durbin, Rep. Kelly

From: A constituent in Chicago, IL

April 10

I am writing as a constituent to express my serious concern regarding the current fitness of the President to carry out the duties of the office. Over time, I have observed what appears to be a pattern of concerning behavior, including moments that suggest potential cognitive decline and increasingly erratic decision-making. Regardless of political affiliation, I believe the stability and sound judgment of the President are essential to the safety and well-being of both the American people and our global partners. Given the gravity of the presidency, I respectfully urge you and your colleagues to evaluate these concerns carefully and consider whether further assessment is warranted under the provisions of the 25th Amendment to the United States Constitution. This amendment exists to ensure continuity of leadership in situations where a President may be unable to fulfill the responsibilities of the office. This is not a request made lightly or out of partisanship, but out of concern for the country’s leadership, security, and future. I believe it is the responsibility of Congress to act when there are credible concerns about presidential capacity. Thank you for your time, your service, and your attention to this matter. I appreciate your commitment to upholding the Constitution and safeguarding our democracy.
