Investigate Doge's unconstitutional overreach, curb civil liberties violations

To: Sen. Duckworth, Rep. Schneider, Sen. Durbin

From: A constituent in Lake Forest, IL

February 21, 2025

The actions taken by the Doge agency under Elon Musk's leadership appear to be a blatant violation of constitutional principles and federal laws. Compromising the privacy of American citizens by accessing their personal data without proper authorization is a direct infringement on civil liberties. Additionally, the mass layoffs and dismantling of key government agencies like USAid without congressional approval undermines the system of checks and balances. The agency must be dismantled, and an investigation into Elon Musk should be opened as soon as possible. Legal experts like Professor Laurence Tribe have raised serious concerns about the unconstitutional overreach of power by Doge. There need to be thorough investigations into these troubling developments to uphold the rule of law. Unilateral actions that disregard due process and transparency cannot be allowed to continue unchecked. Stringent oversight and accountability measures should be implemented to rein in any illegal activities by Doge. The American people deserve to have their rights protected and government institutions that operate within the framework of the Constitution.
