We the people recognize how damaging this Big Beautiful Bill is for ordinary Americans. Tens of million of Americans will be thrown off Medicaid which provides healthcare for the poorest of the poor. The majority on Medicaid are already working, and as we have learned through Kemp’s attempt to institute work requirements, very few enrollees are able to work for various reasons. I’m sure you’re aware that these cuts to Medicaid will result in additional rural hospital closings, and Georgia has already lost many rural hospitals. And I’m sure you know that 60% of nursing home patients are on Medicaid - are we just going to kick old, sick people to the street?
And shame on us for cutting the already puny food aid to poor people, especially children. In 20 years we expect those children to grow up and be gainfully employed and pay taxes. Children who are hungry cannot perform well in school. Creating a huge underclass will be an incredible drag on the economy.
I haven’t seen ONE provision in the bill that positively affects middle class people.
This bill increases the debt by $4 trillion to the debt to give even more tax cuts to the very wealthiest at the expense of the very poorest. This will not benefit the economy.
This bill is a disaster in so many ways. It needs to be scrapped and completely rewritten.
I ask you to do everything you can to ensure this bill does not pass. It will be a disaster to our economy over the long term.
