Opposition to U.S. Involvement in Expanding Wars

To: Sen. Durbin, Sen. Duckworth, Rep. Kelly

From: A constituent in Chicago, IL

March 8

I am a constituent writing to express my deep concern about the possibility of the United States becoming further involved in overseas wars. I strongly oppose policies that escalate military conflict rather than prioritize diplomacy and de-escalation. Many Americans are exhausted by decades of war, the enormous financial costs, and the human toll on both civilians and service members. I do not believe the American people want to be drawn into another prolonged conflict, especially when tensions are being inflamed by political brinkmanship and short-sighted decision-making. I urge you to advocate for restraint, diplomacy, and congressional oversight before any further military commitments are made. The Constitution gives Congress the responsibility to debate and authorize war, and that responsibility is more important than ever during moments of international tension. Please represent the voices of constituents who want peace, stability, and careful leadership rather than escalation. I would appreciate hearing your position on this issue and what steps you are taking to prevent the United States from entering another major conflict.
