The Trump administration's refusal to comply with the Supreme Court's unanimous ruling to facilitate the return of Mr. Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia to the United States is a blatant violation of the Constitution and the system of checks and balances. This defiance constitutes an impeachable offense under "High Crimes" as outlined in Article Two, Section 4 of the Constitution. The administration has willfully disregarded due process by deporting individuals with minimal evidence and detaining Mr. Garcia in a high-security Salvadoran prison despite a judge granting him protection from deportation in 2019. This is part of a broader pattern of authoritarian overreach by the President, including targeting Congressionally approved spending, retaliating against those who held the administration accountable, attacking social programs, and attempting to dismantle key government agencies. Such a flagrant power grab cannot be tolerated. Impeachment proceedings must commence to uphold the rule of law and prevent further erosion of constitutional principles that safeguard our democracy. Inaction risks enabling the President's continued defiance of the Constitution in pursuit of his own interests over those of the nation.
