I am writing as your constituent to urge you to support efforts to eliminate the Electoral College. It is long past time to ensure that every vote counts equally in every state. One person one vote. The Electoral College was created to appease slaveholding states. The North had more voters but the South wanted to count enslaved people in their population totals to gain political power without granting them the right to vote. The Electoral College was their solution. We must not allow this system rooted in racism and inequality to shape our elections any longer. Americans deserve a direct vote for president. Please support legislation and constitutional amendments to abolish the Electoral College.
