This is an intolerable attack on United Nations peacekeepers in Lebanon that must be condemned in the strongest terms. Israel forces deliberately fired upon United Nations peacekeepers, injuring two peacekeepers stationed there. This blatant disregard for the safety of UN personnel carrying out their mandated duties to promote peace and stability is a grave violation of international law and Security Council resolutions. Such actions undermine the UN's critical role in mitigating conflicts and jeopardize the lives of those working to protect civilians in both Lebanon and Israel. The international community cannot allow these attacks on United Nations peacekeepers to go unchallenged. Firm measures must be taken to hold the perpetrators accountable and reinforce the inviolability of UN operations and premises.
