STOP Relocation of Immigrants to Trump’s Guantanamo Bay Concentration Camps

To: Sen. Slotkin, Rep. McClain, Sen. Peters

From: A verified voter in Marysville, MI

February 5

The horrific actions Trump’s administration has taken in sending migrants to Guantanamo Bay is an unconscionable violation of human rights as well as international law. This is the first major step in Trump’s plan to send 30,000 migrants to Guantanamo bay. Any attempt at ethical detention is impossible due to lack of safe accommodations, funding, and bipartisan supervision. Detaining immigrants for the civil violation of immigration status is unethical on its own. Forcing them into concentration camps off of U.S. soil without any oversight is corrupt and unconstitutional. Trump’s administration has been working quickly to further criminalize immigrants. With the Laken Riley Act, undocumented immigrants can be detained indefinitely and without due process based on accusations alone. Effectively giving any undocumented immigrant the potential to be treated as “the worst criminal illegal aliens” that Trump wants incarcerated at Guantanamo Bay. We demand our officials see these deplorable actions for what they are and take any action necessary to prevent history’s gruesome repetition. Our representatives must condemn the inhumane transfer of immigrants to Guantanamo Bay and demand restitution for those who’ve already been relocated. We urge you to block any attempts to gain funding or support for these concentration camps.
