Oppose Trumps Efforts to Install a Russian Puppet Government in Ukraine

To: Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters, Pres. Trump, Rep. Stevens

From: A constituent in Commerce Township, MI

February 19

I am writing to express my deep concern and disgust over President Trump’s recent statements regarding Ukraine, specifically his suggestion of forcing an election during wartime. This is an unacceptable interference in a sovereign nation’s democratic process, and I urge you to take a firm stand against it. Trump’s increasingly close relationship with Russia is alarming. His willingness to spread blatant misinformation—falsely claiming that Ukraine started the war when Russia is the clear aggressor—only emboldens Putin and weakens our global standing. The United States has long been a defender of democracy and freedom, yet Trump’s push to install a Russian-aligned government in Ukraine undermines everything we stand for. There is absolutely no justification for the U.S. to assist in setting up a Russian puppet regime in Ukraine. Sacrificing the freedom and identity of 38 million Ukrainians is not only morally reprehensible but also a direct betrayal of our nation’s values and commitments. We must not turn our backs on our allies in favor of cozying up to an authoritarian regime. I urge you to take decisive action to prevent Trump from undermining both U.S. foreign policy and democracy itself. His dangerous rhetoric and clear disregard for the truth must not go unchallenged. We need our elected officials to stand firm in support of Ukraine and against authoritarian influence. Please let me know what actions you are taking to counter Trump’s reckless policies and support our democratic allies. I look forward to your response.
