I know that it's probably too late for this upcoming election but please consider dismantling the electoral college. It is inherently undemocratic, limiting the impact of my vote compared to my fellow citizens in Georgia or Michigan. It limits party and political interest to do what's good for a handful of states rather than what is good for the nation as a whole. No other democratic country does this. It's been stated over and over, but it bears repeating that we are the leader of the free world and yet people do not choose our leaders, our land does. It's holding America back from its full potential. We can increase our voter turnout because our citizens know that their vote does matter. We can ensure our elections are won by someone who isn't popular in just 12 states but the whole country. If we want to preserve the values in our institutions, our democratic safeguards, and ensure that another Donald Trump doesn't get a foothold in our leadership, we should abolish the electoral college once and for all.
