Our National Parks and public spaces are under attack. Big Bend is under attack. All from our own government. I’m a native Texan, now NY’er of 30+ years and am appalled at the careless, lawless, anti-environment actions taken by this administration all while paying buddies billions. People will lose jobs, animals will lose habitat and access to water. Big Bend is one of the darkest skies in the US and now light will pollute it. This park accounts for less than .05% of border crossings. There is an existing road they could have used. But no, they are destroying 250 year old cottonwood trees. They are thumbing their nose at endangered species. Congress needs to do something to halt this brazen act of carelessness with our National lands. Not everything is for sale and profit.
