Your Duty Is to Protect the Nation, Not Enable a Delusional Man

To: Lt. Gov. Patrick, Rep. Moran, Sen. Hughes, Pres. Trump, Sen. Cruz, Gov. Abbott, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Dean

From: A constituent in Kilgore, TX

March 15

To the Aides, Advisors, and Inner Circle of President Donald Trump, To those responsible for managing President Donald Trump’s daily operations and public appearances, I am writing to remind you of the grave responsibility you hold—not to him, but to the nation. The president’s recent behavior raises serious concerns about his mental state, and it is your duty, not to shield him from scrutiny, but to ensure that the American people are not being led by a man who is slipping further from reality. His DOJ speech was not simply politically charged; it was filled with bizarre, authoritarian rhetoric that suggests he sees himself as a king, not an elected official in a constitutional republic. His threats to imprison political opponents, his attacks on judges and prosecutors, and his insistence that he alone controls justice violate the fundamental principles of democracy. These are not the words of a rational leader. Beyond his authoritarian tendencies, his cognitive failures are becoming more apparent. His recent statement that firefighters are being “shot off their ladders”—a clear misunderstanding of the firefighting term “shooting a ladder” (which refers to quickly deploying one)—is deeply troubling. Confusing metaphors with reality is not a simple gaffe; it is a sign of mental decline. It is your duty to protect the nation, not to cover for him. If President Trump is no longer cognitively capable of fulfilling his duties, you must not hide it. By propping him up, filtering his statements, and keeping the public from seeing the full extent of his decline, you are not serving America—you are enabling a dangerous situation. If you continue to prioritize political loyalty over the well-being of the country, you will be complicit in the erosion of the very system you claim to serve. If he is unfit, the 25th Amendment exists to protect the nation. If he is confused or mentally unwell, he should be receiving proper medical care—not being shielded so that he can be used as a political weapon. History will judge not just Trump, but those who stood by and did nothing. You have a choice: Protect one man’s ego or protect the integrity of the United States.
