I am writing to express deep concern regarding Education Secretary Linda McMahon’s recent comments on Fox News, where she appeared unfamiliar with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)—a fundamental law that protects the rights of students with disabilities.
IDEA ensures that:
• Students with disabilities receive Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) tailored to their needs.
• Schools provide Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) with necessary accommodations and services.
• Parents have legal rights to advocate for their children’s education.
• Federal funding supports these mandates to ensure equitable access to learning.
For a Secretary of Education to be unaware of this critical legislation is unacceptable. I understand Ms. McMahon may lack knowledge of IDEA because she appears to be a DEI hire—Donors Exploiting Influence—with no relevant experience in education. Her background in corporate wrestling and small business does not qualify her to oversee the educational rights of millions of children.
If Secretary McMahon does not understand IDEA, how can she be trusted to uphold it? I urge you to demand accountability and ensure our Department of Education is led by someone who prioritizes students, not political favors.
