Accountability for ICE NOW

To: Sen. Schumer, Rep. Gillen, Sen. Gillibrand

From: A constituent in North Baldwin, NY

January 29

I am writing today to vehemently request that you do not sign anything that has to do with extending or increasing the budget for ICE. I also request that you ask that going forward no ICE agents are allowed to masked, that all ICE officers must identify themselves by name and badge. I want accountability, I want transparency, I want all the oversight that should have been written and followed. Background checks and any instances if ICE recruitment needs to be clearly defined and should be held to the standard, if not higher, of police officers. We currently make it harder to be a nail technician or a hair stylist. This is unacceptable. I had a more difficult background check for my first job over 25 years ago to be a secretary. This is the time to ask for everything and give nothing. Do NOT give up this leverage as you did the last time. Do your job, be brave.
