End private equity and corporate ownership of rental properties in Texas!

To: Lt. Gov. Patrick, Rep. Bryant, Gov. Abbott, Sen. West

From: A constituent in Dallas, TX

January 19

Let's talk about how more and more properties are being gobbled up by corporations and private equity firms. Apartments and single family homes that were once operated by local mom and pop shops, grandparents renting their extra house for extra income have all been gobbled up by these mysterious entities who don't know anything about the communities the properties are in much less about the people they serve. Whats worse, with these companies acquiring these properties there follows a practice of terrible maintenance, piled on fees, increased rents, and landlords and management that are harder and harder to get ahold of. I urge you to PLEASE pass legislation that outlaws corporations and private equity firms (state, national and foreign) from owning AND operating residential apartment, single family, duplex, and townhome rental properties in the state of Texas.
