Stop private citizen access to government funds now!

To: Rep. Green, Sen. Hagerty, Sen. Blackburn

From: A constituent in Nashville, TN

February 2

There are serious concerns about the extent of Elon Musk's influence and involvement within the federal government. As a private citizen and CEO of multiple companies that receive government contracts, Musk's ability to potentially impact decisions regarding government spending, personnel, and operations represents an alarming lack of transparency and accountability. The fact that Musk and his allies have allegedly inquired about the Treasury Department's ability to block certain federal payments is highly concerning. No individual, much less a private citizen, should have that level of control over the disbursement of taxpayer funds without proper oversight. It undermines democratic processes and concentrates immense power in the hands of someone not elected or approved through normal government channels. Americans deserve full disclosure about Musk's precise role, responsibilities, and sphere of influence within the administration. There must be mechanisms in place to prevent conflicts of interest from steering decisions that directly benefit Musk's corporate interests at the expense of the public good. Unchecked authority over government operations by a private entity is antithetical to principles of ethical governance and accountability to the people. Concrete measures ensuring Musk's actions align with the national interest, not personal enrichment, are urgently needed to uphold public trust.
