Inquiry into Elon Musk’s Influence and Potential Conflicts of Interest

To: Lt. Gov. Patrick, Rep. Dean, Sen. Cruz, Pres. Trump, Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Hughes, Gov. Abbott, Rep. Moran

From: A constituent in Kilgore, TX

March 11

I am writing to inquire whether the financial losses Elon Musk has incurred since January 20, 2025—estimated at approximately $70 billion—have been offset in any way by information obtained through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Given Musk’s deep involvement in this initiative, along with his extensive influence over Trump and government operations, transparency is essential. Specifically, I urge Congress to investigate: 1. Has DOGE provided Musk or his companies with any proprietary, financial, or operational data on the U.S. government that could be monetized or leveraged to mitigate his personal financial losses? 2. Have any government contracts, tax benefits, or regulatory changes disproportionately benefited Musk’s enterprises in the wake of these losses? 3. To what extent has DOGE’s reported cost-cutting impacted American citizens, particularly through job losses or changes in government services? 4. Has Musk gained any direct financial or strategic advantage through his involvement with DOGE that offsets his personal net worth decline? Given Musk’s significant influence over Trump and his decision-making, coupled with the lack of transparency surrounding DOGE’s operations, the American people deserve full accountability.
