What have you done today to save democracy?

To: Sen. Markey, Sen. Warren, Pres. Biden, Rep. Pressley

From: A constituent in Brighton, MA

July 5

What have you done today to save American democracy? This is not a rhetorical question, and I am not speaking hyperbolically. We are on the precipice of a fascist takeover of our country. Heritage Foundation president Kevin Roberts said on Tuesday that we are in the midst of a "second American Revolution" that will be "bloodless if the left allows it to be." Read that again. Let it sink in. The president of the Heritage Foundation has explicitly admitted that they are trying to overthrow the government and that they will use violence to do so if they are opposed. The Heritage Foundation created "Project 2025." I hope to God I don't have to tell you what that is, but just in case: it's a detailed blueprint for how the Right intends to destroy America, bring great harm to the entire world, and oppress everyone in this country who isn't a straight, white, Christian, native-born citizen. Do you care about saving our democracy as much as they care about destroying it? If so, then what "radical" steps are you taking to preserve it, to counteract the radical steps they have taken, so far quite successfully, along their path to destroy it? What even are you doing in politics if you are unwilling or unable to rise to this moment? What are you doing to save democracy?
