What’s the plan in Iran?

To: Pres. Trump, Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters, Rep. Bergman

March 2

I’m concerned by the the ongoing U.S. military involvement in Iran. I’m especially troubled by reports of civilian deaths, including more than 100 children in a single strike, and by the risks facing our service members. I’m hoping you can help clarify a few things: • What is the clear goal of this engagement, and how will we decide when to end the attacks?
 • What’s being done to protect civilians and U.S. troops?
 • How will Congress review and oversee this under the War Powers Act?
 • What diplomatic efforts are underway to prevent further escalation? • Are we avoiding actions that destabilize the country long-term? • Are we thinking ahead so that removing one leader doesn’t just result in the same or worse leadership replacing them? These decisions have serious consequences, and I believe Congress should play a strong and transparent role. I’d appreciate hearing your position and what steps you’re taking. Thanks for your time.
