President Trump has invoked the “Defense Production Act” not for national defense, not to protect our nation from a disease, not to ensure stable supply chains, but to enrich a small select number of industries. I ask that you immediately support legislation undoing the use of the Defense Production Act to mass produce elemental phosphorus and glyphosate-based herbicides. This chemical has been deemed by the International Agency for Research in Cancer as “probably carcinogenic [cancer causing] to humans]. The Presidents own Health Secretary helped win a $289 million settlement against herbicide producer Monsanto (now owned by Bayer) over thid very chemical. This is a gross abuse of Presidential authority and must be immediately overturned by congress. I ask that you enact legislation undoing this unilateral executive action immediately and work to protect the health of all Americans.
