I'm writing to demand that you publicly oppose any pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell and use your position to block such efforts in Congress.
Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted of trafficking children and grooming them to be sexually abused. She facilitated the rape of minors. There is no circumstance under which someone who committed these crimes deserves clemency. According to recent reports, some members of the House Oversight Committee are open to considering a pardon for her. This is unconscionable.
A pardon would send a devastating message to survivors of sex trafficking that their suffering doesn't matter when the perpetrator has powerful connections. It would undermine the justice system's ability to hold predators accountable. Maxwell was tried, convicted, and sentenced through our legal process. That process worked.
I expect you to speak out against any pardon consideration immediately and to work with your colleagues to ensure this never moves forward. Survivors deserve better than to watch their abuser walk free.
