We live in a time where the United States Government largely bases success on a business/economic model. Many government leaders - possibly including some reading these words of mine - define their own political success in similar terms. The benefit of everyone in society repeatedly gets marginalized by these opportunistic climbers. And they succeed, in a world of law and government conveniently arranged (with their help!) to give corporations personhood and to give money, which these opportunists work hard to keep flowing in bucketfuls, the status of free speech. Outsized influence by those with more money to donate (while they thumb their noses at their need to contribute proportionally through taxes) helps define political success. And understand me clearly: This is a big part of why none of you are doing more, or have ever done more, to stop corrupting forces like The Heritage Foundation, or MAGA, or Trump, however treasonous they have been, and however courageous they have been lately to voice their treason out loud. IT IS LONG PAST TIME FOR THIS TO STOP. I was a civilian direct hire for Defense, and I've seen any good I did nullified. I've seen patriotic whistleblowers punished (even some who were vindicated by a justice system at least fair enough for that). STOP RUNNING GOVERNMENT LIKE A FOR-PROFIT BUSINESS, and tax all those damn CEOs and sociopathic Silicon Valley super-rich.
