The right to vote is fundamental to our democracy and ensuring the integrity of elections is paramount. The Equal Rights Amendment, while crucial for securing gender equality, does not directly address voting rights. However, I want to convey the importance of protecting every eligible citizen's ability to cast their ballot and have their voice heard. It is vital that we safeguard access to voting by measures such as ensuring polling places are adequately staffed and located, eliminating unnecessary restrictions that disproportionately burden certain groups, and robustly defending against any unlawful voter intimidation or suppression efforts. Our elections must be free, fair and open to all eligible voters, regardless of race, gender, or other characteristics. Protecting the right to vote underpins our entire system of self-governance. Ensuring equal access to the ballot box should be a non-partisan priority to uphold the bedrock principles of democracy. I urge you to support legislation and measures that make it easier for all eligible citizens to exercise their fundamental right to vote and have their voice counted.
