The federal government is proposing a rule that would hand political appointees veto power over every federal research grant in the country — medical research, climate science, public health, agriculture, all of it. Active grants could be terminated mid-project, for any reason. Researchers would need political approval to read scientific journals or attend conferences. International collaboration would be broadly banned. The rule would take effect October 1, 2026. The public comment period closes July 13. You need to start telling everyone about this. Making sure everyone knows and comments. This cannot happen. We will lose valuable research . Please make this public knowledge and stop it.
