ICE Must be Held Accountable for Violence Against the American People

To: Sen. Zaffirini, Gov. Abbott, Pres. Trump, Rep. Casar, Rep. Flores, Sen. Cruz, Lt. Gov. Patrick, Sen. Cornyn

From: A verified voter in Austin, TX

January 13

I've written to my federal representatives countless times. They've ignored my calls for ICE accountability and prioritized loyalty to Trump over loyalty to the Constitution. On January 7, ICE Agent Jonathan Ross shot Renee Nicole Good in the head in Minneapolis. On January 8, ICE agents detained Jose Roberto Ramirez, a 20-year-old U.S. citizen and Native American, for six hours with weapons drawn after following him into a supermarket parking lot. According to Ramirez, agents joked about Good's death and said, "the boys are in town, we're gonna light the city on fire." Federal authorities refuse to hold ICE criminally liable when they shoot Americans without cause. I'm calling on you to use every state law, every prosecutorial tool, and every legal mechanism available to investigate ICE operations in our communities and hold agents accountable for violence against our residents. This is not the America we want to live in. Please help stand up on our behalf and on behalf of human decency and democracy.
