Human Rights Watch Calls on Arms Embargo on Israel
To: Rep. Courtney, Pres. Biden, Sen. Murphy, Sen. Blumenthal

November 10
The Israel government's continued military aggression against civilians in Gaza and Lebanon is unacceptable and a flagrant violation of international law. Israel forces have indiscriminately killed thousands of innocent civilians, including a disproportionate number of women and children, according to United Nations reports. This merciless slaughter constitutes war crimes and crimes against humanity that cannot be tolerated. There is a moral obligation to take concrete action to halt these atrocities. By continuing to provide military aid and arms sales to Israel, you are complicit in enabling their commission of grave violations against the gazan people. There is incontrovertible evidence that Israel forces are using weapons supplied by our country to perpetrate massacres and indiscriminate attacks on civilians. Mere condemnations are not enough - we must exert real pressure through an immediate and comprehensive arms embargo on Israel until they fully comply with international law, end their brutal occupation, and respect Palestinian human rights. I urge you to support legislation imposing an arms embargo on Israel to compel them to immediately cease their unconscionable military assault, lift the inhuman blockade of Gaza, and engage in meaningful negotiations to achieve a just and lasting peace based on human rights, equality, and respect for international law. www.palestinechronicle.com/stop-war-crimes-human-rights-watch-calls-on-arms-embargo-on-israel/ I demand you do everything in your power to: – Hold Israel accountable to a permanent, immediate ceasefire and for their repeat violations of international law – Call for the immediate end of Israel’s occupation and apartheid - Support Palestinians in their fight for freedom and peace – Secure the immediate release and safety of all hostages, including Palestinians held by Israel in "military prisons", including those whose indefinite detention began prior to 10/7/24 – Permanently end all monetary, diplomatic, and military aid given to Israel and enforce U.S. laws like Leahy Law and the Arms Export Control Act – Resume full funding of UNRWA and allocate more funds to aid humanitarian efforts to rebuild Gaza, and provide Palestinians with the resources to survive and thrive – Immediately withdraw all U.S. troops, military assets, and all other assets deployed throughout the Middle East and cease all actions that further escalate a larger regional conflict - Void all anti-BDS laws and other laws that infringe on my right to freedom of speech to criticize any political ideology or country, and to use my money in ways that align with my values
