I'm writing as your constituent to urge you to act against President Trump's October 9 diesel deal with Vladimir Putin and his October 16 waiver of sanctions under the Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act.
Congress passed those sanctions last month to cut off the revenue funding Russia's war. The President has now handed that revenue back. Russia answered within a day by bombing apartment buildings in Zaporizhzhia, killing children.
Russia has waged a sustained campaign against this country through cyberattacks, election interference, and espionage, and is now helping Iran target American troops in active combat. Easing sanctions on that government, in defiance of a law Congress just passed, gives aid and comfort to those attacking us. I believe that meets the constitutional definition of treason, and I ask you to treat it with that seriousness.
I ask you to:
- Support articles of impeachment for the President's immediate removal from office / Vote to convict and remove if articles reach the Senate
- Support legislation to block or reverse this sanctions relief
- Demand the full terms of the President's agreement with Putin
- Hold oversight hearings on how this waiver squares with the law Congress just passed
Please tell me what you will do.
