The incoming administration's plans to undo climate policies and environmental regulations are deeply concerning. Repealing the Inflation Reduction Act and withdrawing from the Paris Agreement would be major setbacks in the fight against climate change. We cannot afford to ignore the scientific consensus on this existential threat. Wildfires, floods, and other climate disasters are already wreaking havoc, and inaction will only exacerbate these problems for future generations. Rather than undoing progress, we need bold policies to transition rapidly to clean energy sources like solar, wind, and nuclear power. This transition will not only mitigate climate risks, but also create good-paying jobs and boost American competitiveness in emerging industries. The economic and environmental costs of climate inaction are too high. Robust funding is needed for the EPA and other agencies to enforce regulations, support research, and implement effective climate solutions. Climate change requires a proactive, not a reactive, approach. I urge you to listen to the scientists and take decisive action to protect our planet and secure a sustainable future. The consequences of further delay could be catastrophic.
