I need you to oppose the recent measures blocking oil supplies to Cuba and support a humanitarian carve-out that allows fuel and aid to reach the island.
The UN's Resident Coordinator in Cuba warns that this crisis is creating acute humanitarian risks. Five million people with chronic illnesses risk losing access to treatments. Thousands of cancer patients need continuous oncology care. More than 32,000 pregnant women depend on healthcare services that are now threatened. Nearly one million Cubans rely on tanker trucks for drinking water, and 84 percent of pumping equipment runs on electricity that Cuba cannot generate without fuel.
Cuba depends on oil for over 90 percent of its energy needs. Blocking these supplies doesn't pressure the government. It devastates ordinary people. Food distribution is breaking down. Schools and elder care centers are struggling. The most vulnerable suffer first and most.
The Supreme Court has already ruled it illegal to use emergency economic law in this context. Diplomatic solutions exist that don't require collective punishment of an entire population. Support humanitarian exemptions that allow oil and aid to reach Cuba without political conditions.
