The ongoing assault by Israeli forces on the besieged Gaza Strip has resulted in a catastrophic loss of Palestinian civilian lives, including another deadly strike on a UN school sheltering hundreds of displaced people. At least 15 Palestinians were killed and 80 wounded in this latest attack, just one day after a reported "massacre" in al-Mawasi took many more innocent lives. Indiscriminate bombing of densely populated civilian areas is unacceptable and constitutes a grave violation of international law. I urge immediate intervention from the international community to halt Israel's disproportionate use of force and protect the Palestinian people from further atrocities. Concrete steps must be taken to end the illegal occupation and blockade of Gaza, and ensure accountability for potential war crimes committed against the Palestinian civilian population. The status quo of dehumanization and oppression cannot be allowed to continue. Decisive action is needed to achieve a just and lasting peace.
