As your constituent and as an American and human being, I'm writing you about the fact that am indisputably authoritarian takeover of American cities has begun. The crisis of the killing of two observers in Minnesota by lawless thugs who have been sanctioned by the president is an inflection point. Please try to understand how angry and sorrowful and powerless all of us who are decent human beings but do not hold the power of elective office feel ri ght now. And please take this as a moment to wield what power you do have, in any possible way you can, to protect us and to protect the rule of law in America. I won't pretend to tell you I know what you should do, but I know that it is morally imperative that you do more than talk. Get in front of a microphone and speak truth to power, and then get out in the streets and help us fight. If you don't do that you don't deserve to hold any elective office.
