The Supreme Court’s rare unanimous ruling to facilitate Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s freedom is being ignored. Trump is defying the courts and openly dismissing the ruling. If a president can ignore a unanimous Supreme Court decision without consequence, then we are no longer a government of law. As my congressional representatives, you must act to defend the Constitution to which you swore an oath. I ask you and Congress to send a congressional delegation to El Salvador to locate and bring back Kilmar Garcia. Congress must uphold the Court’s ruling and hold the executive branch accountable whether Trump cooperates with the ruling or not. A President who ignores the Supreme Court is a dictator. A Congress that lets him do it is complicit. This cannot stand. Trump’s violations and seizures of power are bold. We have to be bolder.
